HKK Široki TT Kabeli enter their next AdmiralBet ABA League challenge in excellent form, having recorded three victories in their opening three games. Ahead of the home clash against Slovan Bratislava, head coach Marijan Bagarić and player Jure Zubac spoke at a press conference about the team's strong start, their upcoming opponents and the importance of maintaining the same commitment and determination.
Bagarić: Every new game is another opportunity to prove ourselves
Head coach Marijan Bagarić expressed his satisfaction with the team's performances so far but emphasized the importance of remaining focused and approaching every opponent with respect.
"First of all, I want to congratulate my players on the previous games and the great victories. This start has been like a dream, quite unexpected even for us, but I believe we have earned it through our performances. Every new game is another opportunity for us to prove ourselves.
As for tomorrow's game, we are healthy and have a full squad available. Slovan are newcomers to the ABA League, but they are a very serious and well-organized team in every position. Their coach, Jakara, has experience in this league. They are an excellent shooting team and very good in transition. We respect every opponent and will give everything we have to secure another victory."
Bagarić also stressed that the team's excellent results do not create additional pressure.
"We do not feel any particular pressure ahead of tomorrow's game. We have to be realistic. That certainly does not mean I do not believe in these players, who have shown their character on several occasions. However, we are not putting ourselves under pressure by saying that we absolutely have to win.
What we must do is give 100 percent, deliver our maximum effort and fight for one another and for this jersey."
Zubac: I hope we can continue our winning streak in front of a packed Pecara
For Jure Zubac, the upcoming game will have special significance, as he previously played for Slovan Bratislava.
The Široki player expressed his satisfaction with the team's position at the top of the standings and highlighted the importance of strong defensive play and support from the home crowd.
"First of all, I want to say how satisfying it is to see us in first place. Games come around very quickly, so we do not have much time to think about it. We have to keep moving forward.
I have fond memories of Slovan because it is my former club. I had a great time there, but I hope that tomorrow, primarily through strong defensive play, we can continue our winning streak in front of what I believe will be a packed Pecara."
Široki will look to maintain their unbeaten start to the regional competition against an ambitious Slovan side led by experienced head coach Dejan Jakara.
With another important home game ahead, the team will once again count on the energy and support of its fans.
